The aim for this literature review should be to show that different birth cohorts have different prevalence of mental health problems. The particular attention should be given to depression; however, other aspects of mental health could be briefly touched as well. Also, potential mechanisms explaining the associations should be discussed. For example, the different historical contexts of the UK that results in different experiences of birth cohorts. People born during the WW2 might have experienced greater disadvantage during the childhood. The issue of diagnosis progress and the recognition of depression importance could be mentioned as well. The historical contexts might also imply the economic downturns and upturns. The country of interests is the UK, and the period is 20th century.
