. You can describe what you do at your current job, or at a previous job if you do not currently work, or your day at school or home if you have never worked. You should write three paragraphs in total each describing the same situation, but you will tailor each different paragraph to a different audience. Your first paragraph will be tailored to the highly technical audience- your boss. He or she knows what you should be doing, so you can use shorthand, abbreviations, and generalizations that he or she would understand. The second paragraph will be tailored to the semi-technical audience; imagine this is someone who works in the same field as you, but not at the same place, so they sort of know what you should be doing, but not exactly. The last audience will be the lay person; this is someone who knows nothing about your field or what you do day to day.
