Statement of Values and Beliefs as an Urban Educator Reflecting on values and beliefs Your work on your portfolio will begin with an essay on urban education and becoming an urban educator. This essay will be an integration of your autobiographical reflection on your beliefs and values about urban education and ideas from others. For this assignment, strongly consider borrowing some of the style or referencing some of Deweys arguments. Whatever you choose, please refer to at least one article from this course and a minimum total of two articles. As you think about the guided writing, articles you have read, our class conversation, and your own experiences, consider the following questions: What does the term urban mean to you? Think about your own experience and how your ideas are supported or challenged by the readings. What are your core educational values and beliefs as an urban educator? What are some of the specific sources of these ideas? Have your ideas and beliefs changed since beginning the graduate program? Be as specific as possible.
