County population health analysis report

1. County population health analysis report Critically review the Pennsylvania and County Health Profiles, 2016 Report* for two select counties. Identify for each county at least two pertinent indicators that assess the health needs (such as Adult Behavioral Health Risk Factors and Selected Major Causes of Death, Number and Average Annual Age-Adjusted Death Rate), assets (e.g., General Hospital Beds per 1,000 Population and Total Licensed/Approved Nursing Home Beds per 1,000 Population Age 65 and Older) and capacities (e.g., Pennsylvania Health Care Workforce). Justify the choice of these indicators, specify their utility, indicate additional epidemiological data required, and state for what purpose. Calculate various common measures as applicable to data on morbidity, mortality, fertility and health infrastructure. [*The Pennsylvania and County Health Profiles, 2016 Report is chosen as data for each county 9 four pages long) is available in a collated form. The 2019 data for each county are available in an interactive format and require more effort to collate them.] Deliverable: Develop and submit a two-page report that succinctly compares the health status of the two counties based on the indicators reviewed. Include a priority list of three conditions to be addressed in each county keeping in focus the assets and capacities noted. Briefly discuss the social, economic, political, and legal implications that you discern for the three chosen conditions to be addressed in each county. Lecture presentations on different aspects of measures of morbidity, mortality, fertility, and other measures pertaining to health care infrastructure availability, access, and utilization, along with sources of data. Pedagogical tools will include PPT slides, web sites (such as United States Census, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and National Center for Health Statistics), published reports, and relevant peer-reviewed publications. Pedagogical techniques would include discussion, focused questioning, small group collaborative work, and report preparation. Assessment: a. Rationale for choice of the two Pennsylvania counties b. Indicators chosen for health needs, assets, and capacity with appropriate calculations c. Additional data requirements with possible sources for the chosen indicators in each category d. Comparison of health status of the two chosen counties e. Social, economic, political, and legal implications for addressing the prioritized conditions Total = 5.0 point Partial credit is provided if less than the number of indicators (one instead of two) or categories (one or two instead of three) are identified and described.
