Imagine that your presentation will be given to your peers at a national meeting or conference in your particular work area. In your proposal, include the following: a. Session Title (15 words maximum) – Positive Youth Development: Diversity & Inclusion b. Session Description (100 words or less. This would be a description of the session that will appear in the printed conference program) c. Session Justification (200 to 300 words. Provide a justification for why this session is important for professionals in your area of the field. This section should provide clear links with references to the course resources) d. Session Learning Outcomes (Include 2-3 objectives for what participants will gain from attending your session e.g., knowledge, skills, techniques, tools ) e. Session Outline (Provide a detailed outline of your session, including topics that you intend to cover, activities, and how you intend to use your 75 minutes) f. Your session will be judged (rather, points will be awarded) based upon how appealing your session would be to conference participants, the quality of your justification as grounded in theory and research, the quality of the session outline, the usefulness and rigor of the session learning outcomes, and the relevance and justification of the speakers. I have been a champion for social justice my whole life, and now, as a professional, I help organizations navigate complex interpersonal, political, legal, and societal challenges as they drive towards delivering greater social good. Bringing together the disciplines of business management, human behavior, organizational development, and education, I work to promote diversity, equity, and strategic innovation in organizations I serve. I believe inclusive and cohesive teams create new possibilities. One friend calls me the Thermostathe says Its important to have someone on your team that can give you an accurate read on everyones temperature, but when you have Esmilda involved, you can actually change an organizations environment. Shes always finding ways to pro-actively address whats happening at our campusbuilding bridges, making connections between different areas, and raising expectations. Another colleague says, If you hear the word impossible, Esmilda hears aha theres opportunity here, and then she makes it happen. Im not sure how she does that, but Im always amazed! Experienced leader and strategist with demonstrated experience in diversity, equity and inclusion institution programs and community outreach efforts in higher education environments. Key strengths include effectively leveraging partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups to drive a systems approach to inclusion, diversity and access for college-bound students. I build student support programs and measure their effectiveness and impact on student achievement and persistence; grow partnerships that support college readiness and bring businesses and community leaders together to mitigate barriers to education and the workforce and influence job placement for Wisconsin post-baccalaureate students. Speaker #3: George Zavala I want to develop a foundation for my future goals of working to serve youth and adults seeking rehabilitation and re-entry into society. I believe that a feeling of connectedness within a community is essential, and I am passionate because I want to help build communities and create inclusion for those around me.
