The reason why I have this minimum requirement for sources is to get you to not only read different articles, but also practice synthesizing the information into your writing. You should not just pick some random article and extrapolate a single sentence without reading and understanding the gist of what it is saying. I highly recommend you start there first!DirectionsThis second part of the project consists of two different tasks; however, this assignment should be one cohesive essay. Even though there are two sections of this assignment, you should not think of them as equal in weight and length. The first part of this assignment is a summary, which should only take one (maybe two) paragraphs to complete. A summary is an objective synopsis of the structure, conflicts, and themes. The summary itself shouldn’t be too detailed. At the point when this part is due, you will have already submitted your plot segmentation, which already demonstrates your knowledge of the film’s events. Since a summary is objective, make sure you avoid having your opinions in it.The next part, the character analysis, is a crucial aspect of understanding a film. It should be the majority of your writing for this assignment. The structure of your character analysis should include one introductory paragraph where you answer some general questions likeHow many characters are in this film?If there are many, which ones are round characters and which ones are flat characters?Which characters are protagonists, and which are antagonists?The subsequent paragraphs should be dedicated to examining the main characters of the film. Obviously, there are some characters that are more important than others so choose the ones that have the biggest impact on the film’s structure, conflicts, and themes. Here are some questions to consider while constructing the individual analyses:What archetype(s) could the character be classified as?What traits (background, position, personality, attitudes, and beliefs) does the character have and how does it affect the narrative and actions within the movie?What obstacles do they face and/or create?What goals do they aim to accomplish?Most of what you will be talking about is what happens on screen, so it’s normal for a good chunk of this section to be objective. However, towards the end, you should try to “connect the dots” and add some opinions of your own by reflecting on what the characters do for the movie overall.
