Compose an essay in which you explore two religious holidays, festivals, or celebration as expressed in two different religions studied in the first half of the course (a specific Indigenous Tradition, Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Daoism, Confucianism, or Shinto). Choose two religions, choose one holiday from each. Here are some details that may help you with your writing.The length of your paper depends upon the topic and its depth. Reach for 2 4 double spaced pages; 5 to 10 paragraphs; 500 1000 words. Quotations and citations do not count, nor does the abstract or cover page if you include them. Your opinion, if you choose to add it, does not count toward the word count. (1 double spaced page is around 250 words.)If you write less than two pages let me know why and if you write more than 5 pages mark the 5 you want me to read. Pick a good topic, be concise, use great language and rich vocabulary, show off. Standard formatting includes 12 point font, Elite, Courier, Times Roman or one of the sans-serif fonts like Arial or Calibri; 1 inch margins all round; double spaced; Name, Professor, Course and date on first page in the upper left hand corner; no abstract is required; header is optional; provide a separate works cited page at the end. Use your choice of citation styles but use it consistently. MLA or APA are usual.
