This assessment is an opportunity for you to examine in depth the nature and trends of a particular nursing activity. Guidelines Introduction/Background: Offer a summary of the nursing activity that is the focus of the paper; what are the key features, for example: Overview of the significance of this nursing care What will be the main focus and aim of your work? What are the approaches to the study of the activity? Has the conduct of this nursing care been amended in light of evidence? Is there a main population group for which the care is undertaken? It may be appropriate to consider the fit of the evidence with your personal experience Evaluation: You have a word allowance of 2000 so must exercise the skills of scanning papers, identifying the main themes and reducing the material to a manageable level; this process will be aided through the design of clear parameters of selection for example, age of studies, where was the study conducted? Evaluation is a research method that refers to a systematic process of assessment or making judgements to provide useful feedback and may also involve assessment of the worth or merit of something. You do not have scope to evaluate the methods adopted in individual studies but rather you must focus on main themes such as; approaches to research which informs the evidence base, indicators of effectiveness, amendments to care in light of new findings Conclusion: Summarise your findings drawing the main themes to a logical conclusion. Do not introduce new ideas or material in the conclusion.
