This report contains 3 sections, A,B and C
Task A: Set the scene of the issue (explain how and why it is an issue)

– Where the issue occurs (the location, NYC)
– why this is an issue
– what areas are affected
– how many people are affected and in what manner
– what is the effect on the environment

Task B: Perspectives and values on the issue
– a full explanation that details how a range of peoples values and perceptions of the issue have led to their responses. This range could include groups of people and/or individuals who are for, neutral or against the issue. Your explanation could include an annotated values continuum.
– Pick 2 people or groups that have different views on the issue
– Explain fully the action that the chosen people or groups have taken i.e. what is the response to the issue! A response could be: setting up a protest movement, petitioning government etc
– Explain fully how the peoples or groups perspectives and values have led to their response

Task C: Solution to the issue
– explain a suggested suitable course of action to address the issue. Fully justify why this particular course of action is the most appropriate. You need to explain, in depth, why this preferred course of action is better than other options through direct reference to the alternatives and include how the solution will impact socially, economically and environmentally as well as politically.

– Your solution needs to be suitable (eg. doing nothing is not a solution)
– Your solution can be one action or a combination of actions
– You need to show that you have considered a variety of solutions (at least 2)
– You need to justify your choice by showing why (explaining) your choosen course of action is better than the alternative action.

– Your issue is complex, and your answer should reflect this complexity and show some deep thinking.
– What will work in the short term might not work in the long term.
– who is paying to fix the issue?
– how much will it cost?
– who will be affected by the solution? (both positvely and negatively)

– You need to show understanding of the issue by providing a full justification and show insight, use clarity of argument.
– You need to demonstrate your ability to analyse. This means: 1) taking lots of information and picking out the information that is useful to you. 2) refers to breaking down the topic into parts and being able to identify the connections and show how one component influences another etc
