You must chose a specific social problem endemic to Canadian society and analyse it within the scope of one of the sociological approaches presented in class.

You must establish:

– Why? What is behind the social problem, the causes.
– What are the effects? Elaborate on the consequences
– How? Discuss how the social problem can be examined through the lense of your choice of
sociological approach (functionalism, symbolic interactionism, conflict theory, feminism)

The Final version of the research paper is a 6-8 page paper, typed and spaced at 1.5,
Times New Roman. Minimum of 8 scientific references.

Ideas

– Education disparity. Inequality in educational quality is described and defined by race in many
communities as well as financial status. For example, If you live in a poor neighborhood or are a
minority, there is a huge chance that the schools you attend may lack most essential facilities hence
a totally different way of interaction with the other cultured kids.

– Social media and bullying. Some cases of bullying has been described as a source of suicidal
thought and behavioral changes.
