a 5-page paper that includes framing a research topic or title, writing a thesis statement related to the topic, stating clearly the research question(s), specifying the independent and dependent variables as well as the hypothesis(-es) and unit(s) of analysis related to the topic. As well you should identify the sources of data, methods of data collection, methods of data analysis, the possible or expected findings, and suggestions/policy recommendations of the study. You must also provide at least five (5) scholarly references related to your study. Please note that this entails a brief literature review on the topic or problem of your study; meaning that you are required not merely to list the references but to include a review of the key points or insights from the literature items that ties in or gives a better understanding of your topic.Scholarly references are journal articles, books, book chapters, newspaper/magazine feature articles, web-based scholarly materials, etc. Please note: no Wikipedia references or just merely googling information. You can use Google Scholar, Web of Science, JSTOR, EBSCO databases to access scholarly, academic items which you can use and cite in your literature review. Our University Library has ample resources and you simply need to go to the Library and seek out help from the Information Literacy staff. The preferred referencing style for this research synopsis paper (and other written assignments in this class) is the Chicago Manual of Style. (I will provide specific guideline in a separate communication).I do not accept prose writing in this research methods course. Your research proposal paper should be formatted in a systematic way: in the form of paragraphs that have appropriate subheadings. Or bullet points that must have specific headings that relate to a subtopic, for example, title or topic of research, research question(s), hypothesis, etc.
