Reflection on critical perspectives on science – Purpose of the assignment The purpose of this reflection essay is that you appropriate some of the concepts discussed in class on the relationship of social structures or constructs and the production and circulation of scientific knowledge. This assignment will make the course very current and will explore the many Governance related issues that are constantly in the news. The written current event should be two pages in length plus an NSU cover sheet, and it should provide the title of the article, the authors name, the source, and the topics relationship to Governance. Students should also be prepared to discuss the current event in class. In addition, if the source is available online (such as CNN.com or other news outlet), provide the URL. Do not cut and paste the article to prevent any possible copyright infringement. Students should also be prepared to discuss the current event in 5 minutes in class. It is not unusual for them to request information about the resources and accommodations available for students with learning disabilities so they can carefully evaluate their options when choosing a college. So its important to have prepared a simple means of information, such as a pamphlet, that outlines accommodations for student-athletes with learning disabilities so they know what resources are available and how to access them. For this assignment, you will create a pamphlet suitable as a resource for an athletic department to distribute to student-athletes with learning disabilities. Include strategies that the counselors can use to help these student-athletes succeed in a university setting. This informational tool will inform and guide the student-athlete of your institutions academic accommodations.
