The book is about Crenshaw high schools gifted students back when Crenshaw first opened up. In general the overall developmental tasks of adolescents your going to start out with your introduction and then a general discussion about what are some of the developmental tasks of adolescents you have to define first what are the developmental tasks of adolescents and then you talk about the developmental tasks of adolescents as a stage of development and the kinds of things that are indicators within the adolescents such as examples (seeking independence, self discovery etc and so on) indicators basically the kinds of things from that stage of development that you would typically see. And then from there you would talk about the student (Sabreen) and integrate her into the content of your paper as your describing the student and how that student is shaped by their environment, ecosystems, developmental, relevant theories of human behavior how resilience manifests and based on the typical task of adolescents kind of where is your student at that point are they examples (struggling with independence, struggling to find themselves or define themselves in a relationship or suffer from family, etc and so on ) Question 2 critically explain how various systems in Sabreens life create and sustain her situation and outcomes. explain the dynamics of specific macro forces and mezzo forces that help to explain the challenges faced by Sabreen and her decisions, behaviors and outcome. Questions 3. 3 specific interventions that you as a school social worker might have implemented with in that setting and apply them critically based on what youve read, based on the situation, based on the student Sabreen you are working with. Question 4. Scott Braxton as the adult and offer your critique as to how he contributed to the situation and to Sabreens school experience in a positive way and in a way that was not as helpful ( negative) to the students school experience. Suggest 2-3 specific interventions as a school social worker you might have done in terms of intervention and support from that adult you are addressing to strengthen his/her role as it impacted the student. Suggested interventions reflect critical application of social work practice principles, values, skills. Question 5. Briefly discuss the book as a whole, its looking at how has reading this particular book broadened or changed your understanding of the work as a school social worker. Reflect on what have you learned in terms of these students who are gifted students in a environment where a lot of them had a lot of issues, environmental issues, compounding family issues, compounding their ability to be successful, or more successful. What did the students need in terms of school, staff, family, from your perspective as a social worker. What have you learned about the impact of trauma, institutional barriers, bias, educators and staff, the school environment. Would you have intervened as a prospective social worker and you talk about with your particular student in general but then also how could as a school social worker you would be utilized and support these gifted students.
