Even before Heinrich Schliemann excavated at Hisarlik, scholars argued about the reality of the Trojan War. The ancient Greeks themselves had different ideas about it. Examine the current archaeological and historical evidence we have for the war and answer the following question. Do you think the Trojan War can be considered a historical event? Regardless of the position you take, state what you see as the main piece of evidence which either supports the war as a historical event or refutes it.
