You must read and produce a 1 paragraph (minimum) summarization from a chapter in a book, a social scientific research article, a magazine article, a newspaper article, and an online source. All 5 summations must be about the same issue, concept, topic, or concern. Write a 1 paragraph of a: Write a minimum 1 paragraph introduction. This paragraph will introduce the topic that will be discussed in the Annotated Bibliography. Correct and COMPLETE citation of a chapter in a book (NO textbooks are allowed) Followed by a paragraph summary of a Chapter in a book Correct and COMPLETE citation of a Social Scientific Research Article Followed by a paragraph summary of a Social Scientific Research Article Correct and COMPLETE citation of a Magazine Article Followed by a paragraph summary of a Magazine Article Correct and COMPLETE citation of a Newspaper Article Followed by a paragraph summary of a Newspaper Article Correct and COMPLETE citation of an Online Source Followed by a paragraph summary of an Online Source Write a minimum 1 paragraph conclusion that ties the theme of 5 citations together. All writing should be in your own words. Since this is a short summation there is no need to quote material unless you are citing specific data such as dates, facts & figures, and etc. The Annotated Bibliography paragraphs should be all YOUR OWN WRITING. It is your summary of the material. You SHOULD NOT be copying sources directly into your work. Eliminate the first person from your paper. Especially eliminate the first person from your critique/analysis section. DO NOT WRITE IN THE FIRST PERSON. ELIMINATE THE WORD I, we, us, they, our(s) or their(s). Because this assignment will be submitted in a Discussion Board it should be SINGLE-SPACED. You may use either the MLA or APA format. Whichever format you choose please stay consistent with it through the assignment. In order to help you complete your citations correctly you may use the Citation Machine located in the Websites button in Landmarks for Schools. Make sure you do not plagiarize (copy material word for word). The following are some examples from off the top of my head. You may choose anything sociological. Your paper MUST be SOCIOLOGICAL in NATURE. If there is any doubt whether your topic is sociological please check with the instructor. If your topic is not sociological in nature there will be an automatic deduction of 20 points. GENERAL CONCERNS OF A RESEARCH PAPER: Because many students have questions about the structure, format, and writing of the research paper the following guidelines have been developed to aid you in your endeavor. If you need to develop a style the MLA style is suggested. It is the format utilized by our English department. If you have trouble in the area of grammar, spelling, or format I suggest starting and finishing the assignment early so someone can proofread your writing and typing. Referencing material: CITATIONS Your references or citations, indicates ALL sources that you have used to compile your paper. These include written work, audio, audio visual, interviews, and questionnaires (which should include a time, date, and place where they were administered). Place and year published. Pages. Are mandatory if there is a direct quote or paraphrasing in your paper. Remember you are doing research. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, and textbooks are not considered Research Material/Sources at the college level. They are considered REFERENCE material.
