Assessment should nurture qualities. Feedback needs to complement assessment. Feedback is a way of bringing about behaviour change. Consider one or more statements above and the characteristics of a contemporary health professional learner and assessment and/or feedback. Write an essay that situates yourself from one of the following perspectives: A leader in your practice setting An educator A facilitator of learning A patient educator A health professional A blend of the above In your writing you should take a position as to how a program of education in your own practice context could be constructed to reflect contemporary teaching and learning practices as well as provide appropriate assessment or feedback. You can select a program that you delivered or one you have recently attended. Commence the paper with a literature review which introduces the attributes of a contemporary learner and how health care education has adopted (or not) learning strategies that address some or none of the principles of 21st century learning as well as feedback and/or assessment. This section should be very well referenced. Then consider the recent program you have attended and how the content delivery met or did not meet the principles described in the literature. Make evidence-based recommendations for program improvement. Include as an appendix the study schedule of the program you delivered or was delivered to you. Please note that you do not need to go through all aspects of the program in the body of your paper as your appendix will include those not able to be discussed. For example, you may wish to select one contemporary teaching and learning strategy as an example of program improvement. Simulation is but one example. Assessment Criteria 1.
