I enjoy their appreciation for you being their care giver and they seem so grateful. I treat them the same way I would like to be treated and the way I would like my mother to be treated if she needed care. – list 5 questions that you would like to ask of either an older client of that agencies, of a staff member, or both. There are other questions that you are required to ask and consider in the description of the paper assignment. – how would you like to be remembered – if you would change a particular thing in life, what would it be? – whats the most important lessons you’ve learned in life ? – what are you most proud of? – what was your favorite hobby, and do you still practice it ? EXPERIENCING SOCIAL GERONTOLOGY PAPER: Description: Select an agency in your area that provides services to older adults (senior center, nursing home, hospital, rehabilitation center, home health, hospice, high rise apartment building, etc.). It cannot be an agency in which you currently work or havepreviously worked. You can find agencies by going to https://www.eldercare.gov/Eldercare.NET/Public/Index.aspx Schedule a time to visit that agency and plan on staying 2 hours at least. During this time you should plan to talk with an administrator and/or direct practice worker AND an older adult client. Consider choosing a direct practice worker that is close to the discipline you are in or plan to pursue (pharmacy, speech pathology and audiology, psychology, social work, etc.). You will need to consult with the administrator or worker to identify a client. Please assure them that the client’s participation with you is voluntary and confidential. Following your visit and discussions with staff and client(s), you should be prepared to answer these questions: -what services does this agency provide to older adults? -what are the most critical problems/issues facing older clients of this organization? -what have you learned about aging from this experience? (be sure to tie into concepts from the course) **additional topics and questions should stem from your own interests and experiences. You should have at least 5 additional questions prepared. These can be questions for older persons, staff, or both. Most importantly you should observe the setting carefully! After the visit, be sure to send a “thank you” note or email to the agency. Following the visit, you will complete a 4 page paper that summarizes the findings and reflects upon your visit and interactions “can you please choose an agencies that is near morgantown,WV or Washington DC. and you don’t have to make a visit if you can make up the whole scenario ”
