Define gerrymandering. b. What was the Supreme Courts ruling regarding gerrymandering in the case, Wesberry v. Sanders, 1964? c. Wesberry v. Sanders established the doctrine of one person, one vote. Explain what this doctrine means (complete additional research if you need to). d. Explain the Courts position on racial gerrymandering. 3. After reviewing the resources and model lesson plans in the document in the “Read and Review” section above, design one days lesson on the U.S. Senate based on Section 3 and/or 4 of Chapter 10. The lesson is for high school students. Include the following elements in your lesson: Objectives: What, exactly, do you want your students to learn? State your objectives in a manner similar to the way they are stated in the model plans. Teach and Model: What are your instructional strategies, that is, how will you teach the students? You should use more than one strategy. For example, if you plan to lecture, there should be another activity (group activity, organized discussion, etc.) in addition to a lecture. This additional activity may be included in the Checking Understanding section of the plan. Show that you are familiar with some of the content of your lesson. Checking Understanding: How will you check to see that your students have understood the lesson (sample oral questions, homework, quiz, discussions, etc.)?
