Occupation Justice is the right of every individual to be able to meet basic needs and to have equal opportunities and life chances to reach toward her or his potential but specific to the individuals engagement in diverse and meaningful occupation *Occupational Injustice occurs when participation in daily life occupations is restricted, prohibited, exploited marginalized and disrupted. *ABOUT THE ESSAY The essay is about finding an electronic or hardcopy media to identify local, national or international current / recent (in the last 5 years) events where geophysical, socio-cultural, attitudinal and / or legislative contexts are creating occupational injustices. The injustices can be impacting individuals, communities or populations. Examples of such current events include new urban infrastructures, government policies, natural disasters, political unrest, or war, among many others. For this specific assessment, I have given the Marawi Conflict/War that happened in the Philippines in 2017 and I have chosen a story about a family who got relocated because of the war. The story link is provided below: https://www.unhcr.org/en-au/news/latest/2018/5/5b0583c64/year-assault-marawi-city-residents-still-unable-return.html The aim of this essay is to determine what type of occupational injustice is happening in the story link provided. Description of the causes and the impact on the individual and family. *Please read the additional files uploaded to determine which type of occupational injustice is happening to the affected population. For me, the type of occupational injustice happening for the family in the story provided is OCCUPATIONAL DISRUPTION. *Occupational disruption is a state of usually TEMPORARY or transient rather than prolonged. It occurs when a person’s normal pattern of occupational engagement is disrupted due to significant life events which in this case is environmental change (relocation due to war and house being ruined). The most important thing to remember about occupational disruption is that it is a temporary state and one that, given supportive conditions resolves itself.
