What relationships exist between population data in U.S. communities and school district funding? In centralized public education systems, all curriculum, funding, and procurement decisions emerge from a single department and are carried out in schools throughout the entire country. Such public education systems attempt to promote equal distribution of resources. In decentralized education systems, such as that in the United States, public schools are governed by smaller districts. Decisions may be influenced by a central department of education, but local school authorities determine how most processes will be carried out. For this Discussion, you access the NCES databases and select two disparate school districts. You compare the districts in terms of percentage of students in free and reduced-price school lunch programs and high school dropout rates. You also review the demographic information associated with each district in order to develop conclusions regarding the trends you observe. By Day 4 Post a description of the demographics within each school district you selected. Compare the statistics on benchmarks, including free and reduced price lunch access and high school dropout rates. Draw conclusions about relationships between the NCES data on the districts and income rates and demographics within each district.
