The PHR and SPHR exams are created by the HR Certification Institute (www.hrci.org) using the PHR and SPHR Body of knowledge (listed below), which outlines the responsibilities of and knowledge needed by todays HR professional. The PHR and SPHR body of knowledge is created by HR subject matter experts through a rigorous practice analysis study and then validated by HR professionals working in the field through an extensive survey instrument. Using the responsibilities and knowledge of one of the functional areas, you are to develop a 10-12 page research paper which demonstrates a best practices for that particular area. This paper will contain a minimum of five academic sources (Wikipedia is NOT an academic source) and be written in MLA format with a cover page and a reference page (which does not count towards your 10 12 page requirement). Within the paper, do not merely describe the functional area; dig in to the application of the best practices currently utilized by HR professionals. Functional Area 02: Workforce Planning and Employment Developing, implementing, and evaluating sourcing, recruitment, hiring, orientation, succession planning, retention, and organizational exit programs necessary to ensure the workforces ability to achieve the organizations goals and objectives.
