Assignment #1: Interview nurse educators in 3 settings (academia, community & acute care), about the legal and ethical issues they perceive to be the most difficult to handle as related to their practice as an educator. FERPA and HIPAA must be discussed. Use APA for citations in regards to FERPA and HIPAA when referencing them. Write a paragraph about each interview summarizing the interview and issues they presented. Give one example of a legal, ethical, or moral issue in a case study format (tell a story). The total assignment should be 2 pages. Learning to be clear and concise is a skill I hope you will develop. APA format does not need to be used for this assignment. Make this interesting. Name one lesson learned from the interviews. Clearly you won’t interview anyone, but make it good please if possible. Acute Care can be named Lisa, works in the neonatal ICU with babies and a lot of new grad nurses come in, Community can be Sandra, works in a community health center in a high school where they do STD screenings (good for ferpa/hipaa), and then academia can be Amanda works as a high school educator in helping with curriculum development etc.
