Our definition essay is fairly straightforward. You will take a term of a concept that is rather ambiguous (faith, true, etc) and use your essay to contextualize a definition. You all will sign up for a topic, and once that topic is selected you will begin the essay with another Hook and at the end of the first paragraph you will include a THESIS that offers the definition of your term. The thesis will be a larger part of this papers grade.
The rest of the essay should put into context the definition you have created. You will use the body paragraphs to illustrate and expound on the thesis definition you have offered. Limit personal introspection here and focus on broader, societal appeals. Remember, you want to be making your writing bougie.
Definitions of concepts, rather than objects, are often fluid and contentious, making for a more effective definition essay. For definition essays, try to think of concepts in which you have a personal stake. You are more likely to write a more engaging definition essay if you are writing about an idea that has value and importance to you.
A note on sources: Do NOT use the dictionary definition for your paper. You may look at the dictionary to help you get some ideas going but dont just copy and paste the dictionary. Remember, if you use a source and dont cite that source your paper will be plagiarized and will not receive a passing grade. Use your mind here.

Explain why a change was needed. What is the gap between the present state and the desired future state?

Each organization has its own background perceptions, ethics, values, history, and ambitions. Therefore, a one size fits all change management process may not work in every organization. We must assess and adapt our process to fit the backgrounds and philosophies of each organization.

Given this understanding, we need to research and assess when, and if, an organization is ready for change, and then adopt a process to best facilitate the change process. In a three-to-five page paper, choose a Middle Eastern organization at which you are currently working or one in which you are familiar. (If neither is possible, conduct an internet search to identify a Middle Eastern organization which has gone through a transformation process within the last three years.) Then address the following:

Provide a brief summary of the organization (its history, culture, industry, product, and services).
Explain why a change was needed. What is the gap between the present state and the desired future state?
How strong is the need for change?
What is the source of this need? Is it external to the organization?
If the change does not occur, what will be the impact on the organization in the next two to six years?
Explain the change process that was created and implemented, identify the outcome of the change in terms of success, failures, cultural outcomes, and human resource changes.
Finally, based on what you have learned thus far in the course, evaluate the companys readiness for change and then offer constructive advice on strategies the organization may/should have considered to create/implement a more successful change process.

Support your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories from the textbook and at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles.

Describe the object and compare/contrast it to pieces we have studied in class, whether in the PowerPoint lectures or in the textbook.

One of the more traditional assignments that students encounter in an introductory Art History class is to go to a museum to observe an object(s) and write a paper that details its stylistic features. Since the Lowe Art Museum on the University of Miami campus has a very fine collection of Renaissance to Rococo paintings, select one painting from this time span to concentrate on.
Once having selected the painting from the Lowes collection, pay close attention to stylistic features (i.e., composition, color, use of light/shadow, perspective, figures, pose, gestures, et al). Describe the object and compare/contrast it to pieces we have studied in class, whether in the PowerPoint lectures or in the textbook. When selecting objects to compare the museum piece to, be discerning. That is, try to find objects that share more characteristics than not. The aim of this assignment is for students to develop an eye for style and to locate the subtle differences that distinguish one technique or tendency from another.
Organize the paper, which should be five to seven (5-7) pages in length, into an introductory paragraph, body, and conclusion. The introduction may include some general information (e.g., historical, economic, cultural) about the object’s specific time period, the technique utilized to create the object, etc. More importantly, the introduction should include a thesis statement about the object’s overall aesthetic. Then organize the body in a logical, analytic fashion, and conclude the paper with some remarks about the significance of the object — that is, how it fits into a larger Renaissance to Rococo art historical framework.
Remember, this is NOT a research paper; however, if you quote a source (e.g., a placard or web site from the museum), be sure to cite it.
